Wes Brown has been called into the England squad after another central defender pulled out of Wednesday's friendly.
With Sol Campbell, Rio Ferdinand and Jonathan Woodgate already missing, Matthew Upson pulled out of the squad for next week's friendly against Holland with a hamstring injury.
Ferdinand dropped out of consideration when Ferguson declared that the player had picked up a strain on Saturday. Ledley King himself is said to have a slight niggle and Wesley has been called up as cover.
Wesley has not played for England since the defeat by Australia at Upton Park in February 2003.
